Review of La Junta, Colorado

City of La Junta is not for any age.
Star Rating - 12/2/2019
I've lived in La Junta CO for about 12 years and to be honest with you I have lived in a lot of palaces but by far this town is the worst! La Junta CO has nothing to offer anyone of any age. All the hype about low cost of living in la junta, low crime rate and local jobs is exaggerate.

Most of the citizen here have to see Dr or specialist out of the area as there are no providers here in this town worth the aggravation. Electric rates that are the highest I've seen for such a small town. Every citizen complaines about the electric rate.

La Junta is not business frendley to new businesses as most don't survive the first year without digging into their savings and the businesses holding on are going broke or on life support. No jobs or industry that pays well nothing but minimum wage fast food or a locker company & bolt manufacturer that work you like a dog for little pay. Lets talk about unemployment most people just give up on finding a job here as there are no real jobs and the work force center is a joke. So the lie about the 4.8 unemployment rate is not right by no means!

You have a city that is one sided intrenched in the good old boy system where nothing gets done especially if you are an outsider. I've seen so many of my young family members and friends leave this place due to the lack of jobs, shopping, high utility rates or healthcare providers. These were people that worked for the state or government that didn't like it here. Hell even my 83 yo mother said this was the worst place she has ever lived.

We only live here as my mother in law (87yo) does not want to move due to health issues so my wife takes care of her and my mom. I own 2 business in Colo Springs and commute everyday good thing because a person would starve here in the smile high city. Even my kids have graduated high school just to go to college elsewhere and never looked back.

I am not mad or upset at the city for any reason I just tell the truth like it is. But if i had to do it all over again i would of never came to this town. Even my older family members that have grown up here are leaving after retiring from the rail road, state highway department or state prisons system to live elsewhere.

Most people do move into la junta area then after 3 months to a year move out because of what I have stated above.
